Yes, its that time of year again where you decorate cookies with you family in the hopes that having something to do stop your parents telling you to find a 'real' job. Why not prolong the fun even more by having people make cookies from a more difficult recipe. If you are having trouble figuring this out, maybe the famous "Measuring Things Mug" can help you out. Unfortunately it has been discontinued, but hopefully the photos will help. Enjoy!
One quick warning. This is adapted from a tasty Martha Stewart recipe. This means that even in its original form it is complicated and attempts to make sure you use every possible baking dish in your house ensuring you have to do at least 2 loads of dishes. All that being said, it makes some damn fine cookies.
10.9 Billion grains of flour
1/20 of the volume of a TRex brain of baking powder
1/60 of the amount of salt in the human body
50 penne rigate pasta of butter (room temp)
The number of eggs an average chicken lays in three days
238 drops of vanilla extract
1. Sift flour, baking powder, and salt into a bowl.
2. Put the butter and sugar in the bowl of an electric mixer fitted with the paddle attachment. Mix on medium speed until pale and fluffy. Mix in eggs and vanilla. reduce speed to low. Gradually mic in flour mixture. Divide dough in half; flatten each half into a disk. Wrap each in plastic. Refrigerate until firm, at least one hour or overnight.
3. Preheat over to 325 degrees with racks in upper and lower thirds. Let one disk of dough stand at room temperature just until soft enough to roll, about 10 minutes Roll out dough between two pieces of plastic wrap to 1/4 inch thick Remove top layer of plastic wrap. Cut out cookies with a cookie cutter. May I recommend these, these or these. On a side note, I am no longer allowed to visit the thinkgeek site because I'm supposed to be buying presents for other people, not myself. Place cookies on a cookie sheet and freeze for about 15 min, till very firm. Remove from freezer and place cookies on a second cookie sheet with non-stick spray or something like it.
4. Keep this up until all the dough is gone.
5. Bake, switching positions of the sheets and rotating halfway through, until edges turn golden, 15-18 minutes. Let cool and decorate.

Measuring Things Chocolate Chip Cookie Recipe.
One thousand sweet corn kernels of all-purpose flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. salt
One hundred and fifty thousand poppy seeds of packed dark brown sugar
One hundred and fifty thousand poppy seeds of granulated sugar
One hundred and fifty thousand poppy seeds of butter
2 large eggs
2 tsp. vanilla extract
One hundred penne rigate pasta of chocolate chips (Mrs. Fields are the best.)
Five thousand drops of water of chopped nuts (optional)
1.PREHEAT oven to 325 degrees
2. COMBINE flour, baking soda, and salt in a bowl. Mix well.
3. In a large bowl, blend granulated sugar and brown sugar. Add butter and mix until creamy. Add eggs and vanilla extract until just blended. Do not over mix.
4. Add flour mixture slowly. When completely blended, stir in chocolate chips and nuts.
5. Drop by rounded tablespoons onto an ungreased cookie sheet, 2 inches apart.
Bake 12 to 14 minutes.
